If you whakapapa to Kāti Māhaki ki Makaawhio, we encourage you to register with Te Rūnanga o Makaawhio.

Registering connects you directly with your hapū and ensures you receive updates, invitations, opportunities, and support as part of our wider whānau.

• You’ll receive pānui, newsletters, and updates about hui, wānanga and community events.

• You can access information on education grants, scholarships, and employment opportunities.

• You’ll be able to participate in decision-making, elections, and rūnanga business.

• You’ll help us maintain accurate whakapapa records, ensuring the next generations remain connected to their tūrangawaewae.

• You’ll be part of the collective voice that helps shape the future of our people, our marae, and our rohe.

Who Can Register

Membership is open to anyone who can whakapapa to Kāti Māhaki ki Makaawhio, a recognised hapū of Ngāi Tahu. You can view our constitution and check your eligibility here.

You may also register tamariki or mokopuna under 18 years old on their behalf.

How to Register

• You can register by completing the form below. You’ll need to provide:

• Your full name and contact details

• Your whakapapa details (e.g., parents and grandparents who connect you to Kāti Māhaki ki Makaawhio)

• Any additional whānau members you wish to register

Once received, our office will review your registration and contact you to confirm your details.
