If you whakapapa to Ngāti Māhaki ki Makaawhio, we encourage you to register with Te Rūnanga o Makaawhio.
Registering connects you directly with your hapū and ensures you receive updates, invitations, opportunities, and support as part of our wider whānau.

Who Can Register
Membership is open to anyone who can whakapapa to Ngāti Māhaki ki Makaawhio, a recognised hapū of Ngāi Tahu. You can view our constitution and check your eligibility here.
You may also register tamariki or mokopuna under 18 years old on their behalf.

How to Register
To register, please download and complete the PDF registration form available here. Once completed, scan and email it back to the office at makaawhio.admin@ngaitahu.iwi.nz or send your physical copy through to PO Box 225, Hokitika 7842.
You’ll need to provide:

Your full name and contact details

Your whakapapa details (e.g., parents and grandparents who connect you to Ngāti Māhaki ki Makaawhio)

Any additional whānau members you wish to register
Once received, our office will review your registration and contact you to confirm your details.
